The report – in English

with one comment

Substantial parts of the report of the Investigative Commission will be published in English. Due to technical glitches only a part of the translation is in place so far but more will come tomorrow. On this same page there are also transparencies in English used at the press conference today and the conclusions of the Working Group on Ethics working alongside the Investigative Commission.

  1. From the little I have seen of the Truth Report so far it is clear that the whole Icelandic banking system was a massive failure. The honesty of the report is in stark contrast to the attitude of the UK’s FSA and Treasury who refuse to explain how they could have done so little. Did they realise how badly run and regulated the Icelandic banks were? If they did, why didn’t they do anything? If they didn’t realise this, why didn’t they?
If only they had done something (almost anything) many UK depositors and taxpayers would have been spared a great deal of pain, as would the whole of the Icelandic community.
